We are very excited to introduce Dr. Mark Peters as the new plastic surgeon for our Germantown practice.
Dr. Peters is an award-winning, board-certified plastic surgeon with over 20 years of experience transforming the face and body. He joins NuBody Concepts by way of Houma, Louisiana, where he has had his own plastic surgery practice for many years. He is excited to move to the Memphis area and become part of the NuBody team.
Services Offered by Dr. Peters
Dr. Peters has performed over 10,000 plastic surgery procedures ranging from breast augmentations, breast lifts, and tummy tucks to face and neck lifts. More recently, he became the first plastic surgeon in Louisiana to offer BodyTite, a technology that uses Radio Frequency Assisted Liposuction (RFAL) to remove fat while tightening the skin.
RFAL is unique since it addresses the “gap patient,” whose tissues are not bad enough for excisional surgery such as a tummy tuck or neck lift and not good enough to perform liposuction alone. Other patients fitting into this “gap”are those simply unwilling to accept the scars and recovery associated with excising the tissue. The most common areas where “gap patients”are found include the upper arms, inner thighs, and back.
While we are certainly happy to have Dr. Peters join our Cosmetic Surgery team, he is also a person who is a lot of fun to be around. Louisiana born and bred, he has been spotted on many a Mardi Gras floats tossing out candy to the crowds. He also cooks a mean gumbo and can smoke the most tender brisket. In fact, we have been salivating watching his cooking videos (find an example at the end of this blog post).
Dr. Peters also has a Tennessee connection. While he received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, LA, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, not far from our NuBody Concepts Brentwood location. We are excited that he has chosen to return to the Volunteer State at this time.
BodyTite for Amazing Skin Tightening Results
As mentioned above, Dr. Peters brings a vast RFAL experience to NuBody Concepts. He has treated over 200 patients since this technology became available in the United States in 2017. BodyTite uses radio frequency energy to heat the deep and superficial fatty tissue layers. This is done using a probe beneath the skin as well as an external electrode. The precisely contained energy field ensures a controlled and safe treatment.
The result of RFAL treatment is a three-dimensional contraction of the tissues, tightening the skin and improving the contours in the treated areas.
How Long Does it Take to See Skin Tightening Results?
While patients often appreciate immediate changes in their contours, the tightening effects of RFAL become more apparent over time. Contraction of the tissues relies on your body’s healing processes, which do not truly begin until at least 6 weeks after your procedure. What’s more, the tightening process typically continues for up to a year.
While it is undisputed that a tummy tuck is the most effective way of removing unwanted skin, BodyTite achieves remarkable results as well. Clinical studies have demonstrated as much as 35-45% contraction in patients. And this contraction has a three-dimensional effect, meaning the tummy does flatten considerably.
Yes, you read that right. Up to 45% contraction of the skin, without tummy tuck surgery. If you’ve been researching body contouring options, we hope that you’re as excited about this as we are!
