How Much Do Breast Implants Cost?

At NuBody Concepts in Nashville and Memphis, Tennessee, the average cost of a breast augmentation is $6,200 for saline implants and $7,100 for silicone implants. However, implant prices vary depending on the manufacturer. You will choose the right implant for you in a personal consultation with our plastic surgeon.

While cost shouldn’t be the only factor when choosing a plastic surgeon, it is important to understand how a breast augmentation quote is prepared when comparing prices among competitors. At NuBody Concepts every price quote you get is all-inclusive – no hidden fees or surcharges.

Read on to learn more about factors that can impact the cost of your breast implants.

Average Cost of Breast Implants

The cost of a breast augmentation with implants depends on the type of implant you choose and also varies between doctors and geographic areas. Silicone implants cost more to manufacture and on average are priced $1,000 to $1,500 above saline implants.

According to the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery National Databank Statistics of 2020, the national average cost of a breast augmentation is $4,866. The most recent statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (as of 2024) lists the average cost of breast augmentation surgery at $4,294. These numbers form a good baseline for comparing quotes.

You might ask, should you look for a provider who offers breast augmentations at a price close to the national average? Not necessarily.

Fee-Based Pricing

First off, the above average cost does not include all expenses you will be expected to pay, such as anesthesia costs and facility surcharges.

Here is a list of potential add-on fees you might be charged:

  • Anesthesia costs
  • Hospital or “surgical facility” surcharges
  • Surgeon’s fee
  • Fees for medical tests
  • Price of post-surgery garments
  • Taxes

Once those extra expenses get added in, the cost of your procedure can easily double! When you receive a breast augmentation quote from a plastic surgeon, make sure you ask for a list of such fees or estimates thereof.

All-Inclusive Pricing

At NuBody Concepts, we believe in affordable cosmetic surgery and transparency. Therefore, all our procedure prices are all-inclusive. What you are quoted is your final price – no hidden fees, surcharges, or taxes.

We also include compression garments and/or surgical bras for your recovery, which is another expense other practices may charge extra for.

In addition, we apply the fee you paid for your consultation (ranging from $50 to $125) to the cost of your procedure if you book it within 6 months. Your only incidental expenses you may incur will be for the prescription medications (pain medication etc.) that we call into your pharmacy prior to your procedure.

Saline vs Silicone

As mentioned above, silicone implants are more expensive than saline implants, due to the higher material costs and the more intricate manufacturing process to produce their shape. Saline implants, as the name suggests, are filled with a simple saline solution.

Some women prefer silicone implants due to their texture and shape. Some women prefer saline implants, which in addition to being more affordable have the benefit of being very safe and easily absorbed into the body in case of rupture.

If you see breast implants advertised for an incredible $2,900, you can be sure that it is for saline implants, not silicone – and that the practice leads with a low price that will later go up as the surcharges mentioned above are added on.

Cup Size

Incredibly, some practices charge different prices based on the size of your implants. This is not based on the manufacturer’s cost. Implant prices charged by the manufacturer (i.e. Mentor or Sientra) do vary based on material and shape, but not by size. Which cup size you choose should depend on your aesthetic preferences, not on price.

If you receive a price quote for a breast augmentation that lists cup size as an additional expense, you might want to get another quote to compare it to.

Surgeon Experience

A board-certified plastic surgeon with 20+ years of experience of placing breast implants will rightly charge more than a less-experienced doctor – as you’re paying for their expertise and knowledge.

This doesn’t mean that expertise and knowledge are the only factors impacting the cost of a breast augmentation. However, the experience of your surgeon is a good indicator of the outcome of your procedure. If your results are not what you were hoping for, it may eventually cost you more money to have a secondary procedure later on – such as a breast implant exchange or even a breast implant removal.

We invite you to meet our plastic surgeons who each have over 20 years of cosmetic surgery experience: Dr. John Rosdeutscher, our double-board certified plastic surgeon in Nashville and Chief Medical Officer of NuBody Concepts, and Dr. Mark Peters, our board-certified plastic surgeon in Memphis.

Breast Surgery Locations

Your location can significantly impact the overall price of surgery, depending on cost of living, average office rents, and consumer demand. Cosmetic surgery prices tend to be higher in the big population centers and more affordable in places like Tennessee.

You may have heard of certain countries (namely Mexico, India, Brazil, or Turkey) that promote low-cost procedures and cultivate a steady flow of medical tourism from higher cost countries. However, you can never be sure what safety protocols are practiced and enforced in these countries.

But in the United States, you get to choose: If you live in a higher-cost area of the country like Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, or Miami, you could potentially save thousands of dollars without sacrificing your safety by traveling to a lower-cost area like Nashville, TN.

Insurance and Financing

Breast augmentations are considered elective surgeries (we do not perform breast reconstruction at NuBody Concepts). This means that your health insurance will not cover the cost.

To help you budget for your breast augmentation without breaking the bank, we have partnered with several financing providers to offer 12-month interest-free financing options. This gives you the option of having your procedure now and paying it off installments later, without being charged any extra fees.

We hope that we’ve given you a better understanding about the cost of a breast lift. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any other questions.
