Diets. Intermittent fasting. Your third gym membership.
Are you tired of trying every single thing under the sun to get your weight under control, with very little to show for?
There is a different approach, and it’s called ORBERA® – an FDA-approved weight loss system that goes beyond a diet and exercise program, yet does not require surgery. Learn all about it and hear from patients who have had incredible success with it.
How To Lose Weight With a Gastric Balloon
The ORBERA® gastric balloon teaches you portion control over a 6-month period so that when you are done with the treatment, you are able to maintain your weight loss.
It’s not exactly magic, but it is a pretty revolutionary approach: In a 30-minute non-surgical procedure, a deflated balloon is inserted into your stomach and then filled with a saline solution to resemble the size of a grapefruit. By taking up space in your stomach, the balloon suppresses your feelings of hunger so that you quite naturally eat smaller and more infrequent portions.
After 6-months the balloon is removed in another 30-minute procedure and you’re done!
Why Choose a Gastric Balloon
There are several types of gastric balloons. With over 300,000 procedures performed worldwide, the ORBERA® balloon is one of the most popular and effective ones. The main reason you would want to choose a gastric balloon procedure is to make your weight loss permanent. Many patients who have tried diet, exercise, and numerous programs without avail turn to Orbera and are surprised by how well it works and how easy it is*.
Below are the benefits you get with ORBERA®:
- Both placement and removal of the balloon are non-surgical procedures of 30 minutes or less
- No stitches or sutures
- Balloon takes up space in stomach to reduce feelings of hunger
- Learn to take control of the way you eat
- Lose and keep off 30-50 lbs or more!
- Patients on average lose 3x the weight of diet and exercise alone
- You pay one all-inclusive price without any hidden fees or surcharges, no repeat treatments necessary
* People who’ve had previous weight-loss, stomach, or esophageal surgery, or who take prescription anti-inflammatories or anticoagulants like blood clot medicines are not good candidates for weight-loss balloons.
How Much Weight Can You Lose With Orbera?
On average, patients expect to lose 3x as much with Orbera than with diet and exercise alone. But what’s more powerful than mere numbers is listening to real patient stories, like those of Amanda and Shawn below.

Amanda, even though she is a nurse, says that she “had to relearn everything” by retraining herself how she thought about food. She was able to lose 51 lbs with Orbera.
Shawn said what helped him lose 126 lbs with Orbera was that he didn’t just have to procedure and sat back. Instead, he took up running and biking and began eating healthier. This was made so much easier by the reduction in appetite. He is thrilled that Orbera helped him live that life that he wanted.

I Have More Questions. What’s The Next Step?
There are several ways to move forward if you are interested in a gastric balloon treatment.
Are Gastric Balloons safe? What happens if the Orbera balloon ruptures in the stomach?
Our Orbera FAQ section answers a lot of questions such as the above. If you’re unsure whether you feel comfortable with the procedure, it’s a good place to start.
To find out if you’re a good candidate for the procedure, we suggest you start by calculating your BMI. A BMI between 30 and 40 is ideal for the procedure. BMIs of 40-41 may also still fall into the target range, but call us first to be pre-screened.
By far the best way to move forward and have all your questions answered is to schedule a personal consultation with the surgeon performing the procedure. Our Nashville practice performs all our gastric balloon procedures, both for local patients and those from out of town.
Please note that we offer virtual consultations for out of town patients (or for anyone who prefers not to have an in-person consultation). If Orbera isn’t offered in your area, a trip to Music City might be what you need!
