All of these questions can be answered when you meet with one of our experienced hair removal technicians. To get started, we have put together the following list of laser hair removal FAQs. Contact us if you have any additional questions or if you’d like to schedule a personal consultation with us.
At NuBody Concepts, we make sure to always use the most up-to-date technology for our medical procedures. Our laser delivers 2 lasers in 1, which means that we can safely and effectively treat all skin types with superior results. One of our surgeons is always on site, and our laser hair removal procedures are performed by a trained, certified, and licensed aesthetician.
We combine our laser with cooling system technology, which makes the process comfortable and enjoyable for everyone. Clients typically liken the feeling to having a small elastic band pinged on their skin. However, some people are more sensitive than others, and you may experience it slightly differently.
If you have concerns about the safety of laser treatment for hair removal, please know that lasers have been FDA-approved and in use for cosmetic enhancement procedures over many years. Still, laser hair removal is a medical treatment and requires the oversight of licensed professionals like those at NuBody Concepts. Our cosmetic surgeons have extensive experience with both surgical and non-surgical body contouring and skin rejuvenation procedures, as does our staff of registered nurses and aestheticians.
Treatment typically varies from person to person depending on your hair and skin color. During your consultation our medical consultant will be able to evaluate you and tell you more accurately. It may take anywhere from 6-8 treatments to completely kill the follicle due to the individual hair’s natural growth cycle.
You can shave as much as you need to, but don’t do any waxing or tweezing before and in between treatments. We need the hair attached to the follicle in order to kill it. Nair cannot be used. Sun exposure must also be avoided 4 weeks prior to treatment and 2 weeks after, as the sun makes the skin more sensitive and can cause burning. If you must be in the sun, SPF 20 or higher should be used.
You may experience redness around the treated area after your treatments and this is totally normal. Hydrocortisone cream can be applied to treat any redness. There is no downtime after treatment and you can carry on with life as usual afterwards. Lasers have been used in the medical profession for over 15 years and no long-term side effects have been reported. If you are concerned about any side effects or results, feel free to call us or ask our consultant during your personal consultation.
