Welcoming Dr. John Rosdeutscher to the NuBody Concepts Team

We are excited to introduce our plastic surgeon Dr. John D. Rosdeutscher, who joined the NuBody Concepts team in September 2017. Dr. Rosdeutscher is a double board-certified plastic surgeon with certifications by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology, and he serves as Chief Medical Officer of NuBody Concepts. He has been practicing plastic surgery in the Nashville area since 1998.

Dr. Rosdeutscher is not only an accomplished plastic surgeon but also a great person to be around. In order to learn more of his personal side, we recently sat him down for an interview.

Interview with John Rosdeutscher, M.D.

Q: Dr. Rosdeutscher, what brought you to Nashville?

A: I’m originally from Bowling Green, KY, and came to Nashville for my undergraduate studies as well as medical school at Vanderbilt University. I’ve spent my entire plastic surgery career here in Nashville and I love this city. Chances are you’ll run into me at a Titans or Predators game, or eating out at one of our many great restaurants.

Q: What first drew you towards plastic surgery?

A: I always wanted to be a surgeon. As a kid I sometimes went to work with my father, who was a radiologist, and I tended to wander over to surgery, where he’d pick me up at the end of the day.

Q: What do you find most rewarding about plastic surgery?

A: In medical school I was drawn to plastic surgery because I saw it as the “ultimate surgery.” When the other surgical specialists didn’t know what to do or needed rescue, they called plastics. Many techniques used by other specialties were born out of plastic surgery – including transplants, vascular surgery, oncology & reconstruction.

Q: What do you find the greatest challenge with plastic surgery?

A: That we still do not have a perfect solution for everything.

Q: Which plastic surgeries have you performed/do you perform?

A: I have done more or less every plastic surgical procedure there is, though I don’t really do hand or facial fractures anymore.

Q: Do you have any pets at home?

A: I’ve always been a “dog person” and we have two dogs – both a miniature poodle/beagle mix. During a moment of weakness my younger son talked me into a cat about seven years ago and somehow I became her “person.” I have no idea how that happened!

Q: How do you like to spend your free time?

A: I bike a little, love to ski (water & snow), and generally love being on or in the water. I also love to travel with my family.

Q: Tell us something unusual about yourself that only a few people know.

A: I am a registered adult leader with the Boy Scouts, and in 2013 I served as tree lot chairman. This is a bigger deal than it sounds, considering it’s a ¼ million dollar enterprise in a month. Although I love being outdoors, I’m really not an outdoorsy person. I camp to participate with my boys and firmly believe in scouting, but to be completely honest I would never otherwise choose to sleep in a tent if there is a perfectly good lodge/hotel anywhere close by! My older boy is an Eagle Scout and the younger one well on his way.

Q: What’s your favorite movie of all time?

A: “Raising Arizona.” To me, it’s the perfect blend of deep philosophical thoughts and silliness.
