Tips to Ensure a Comfortable Recovery from a Breast Augmentation
Choosing the right breast augmentation surgeon and cosmetic surgery center are two of the most important decisions you can make when preparing for a breast augmentation. Other important decisions to make in the preparation process include when you’re going to have your surgery and how you’re going to pay for it (whether you’ll need financing or not). These should all be decided upon at least a few weeks before your appointment.
When that’s all said and done, there are a few more preparations you’ll want to make once your appointment date gets closer. Here are some helpful tips to help you have the most comfortable recovery period after your breast augmentation.
Plan to take it easy for a few days after your breast augmentation.
It’s natural to feel fatigued or sore for a few days following your surgery, so you’re going to want to plan accordingly. If you have kids or pets to take care of, you may want to ask your significant other, a family member, or friend to assist you for a couple of days. Likewise, you’re likely going to want to take at least a day or two off of work or any other obligations.
Take care of cleaning up your home before you head off to your appointment.
When you’re tired and ready to relax for a few days, the last thing you want to come home to is a messy home. Try to take care of your regular chores, remove as much clutter as possible, and create an inviting and rejuvenating atmosphere. You’ll thank yourself later!
Make sure you have lots of pillows on your bed.
You’re going to want as much support and comfort as possible when resting your new body. Make sure you have enough pillows to be able to sit up comfortably in bed, as well as a few extra for when you turn over on your side. Your new breasts will feel much better after resting when you lay them on something soft and supportive.
Get a good moisturizer or body butter for after your breast augmentation.
Dry, tight, and swollen skin—though not a given—is a very normal reaction to a breast augmentation surgery. Because your skin has to accommodate for the extra padding, some tightness and discomfort is normal. A good moisturizer or body butter can help soothe any irritation and make for a more comfortable recovery time.
Stock up your kitchen with pre-made foods.
Following your breast augmentation, you’re probably not going to have the energy or mobility to prepare food for yourself. Before your surgery, stock up on some pre-made food items or items that don’t require much effort to put together. Better yet, ask one of your loved ones to do some cooking for you!
Be sure to follow your doctor’s specific instructions after the surgery.
While these are all helpful tips, nothing can substitute for the advice given by your doctor. Your doctor can advise you on how much rest to get after the surgery, when to resume normal activities, and how to properly care for your new breasts. Following these instructions closely will help ensure an easy, comfortable recovery.
