Early Life

With her father serving 22 years in the U.S. Army, Dr. Colon spent her childhood moving from one place to the next, including Germany, where she and her family lived for eight years, until finally settling near Clarksville, TN during high school. She attended Vanderbilt University, graduated cum laude with a BA in both Biological Sciences and Neuroscience, and matriculated at Vanderbilt School of Medicine to pursue a career in the discipline of surgery.

Medical Education and History

Dr. Colon’s General Surgery residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center allowed her to gain extensive training in Trauma and other surgical disciplines, and offered an opportunity to perform basic science research in Cancer Biology and Pediatric Surgery, which she has presented at national and international conferences and also published in a number of peer-reviewed journals. In her final year at Vanderbilt Medical Center, Dr. Colon was named Chief Resident of the Department of Surgery. She is also the recipient of the Lester Williams Surgical Award.

What Sets Dr. Colon Apart

Dr. Colon’s compassion extends beyond her patients to serving the community. She was named a Frist Global Healthy Scholar after her work with staff surgeons at a local hospital in Kenya. In her free time, she enjoys weightlifting, playing the guitar, cooking, and traveling. We welcome Dr. Colon to the staff of NuBody Concepts, which she joined in November 2015.

A Message from Dr. Colon

“The practice of medicine is not a static process. There is more to it than just making diagnoses and prescribing treatments. It involves seeing a patient as a person…as the sum of his or her parts. By doing so, we can personalize the care we provide in a compassionate way while achieving the best possible outcome. This is the art of medicine. To me, the appeal of aesthetic surgery is founded in this understanding. It perfectly embodies technical skill, creativity, and the ability to help people be a better version of themselves.

We are how we feel. In our mind’s eye, the construct of beauty is created from perceptions of self—be it self worth, self expression, or self awareness. By improving upon the things we can, we exert a certain degree of control over not only how others see us, but also how we see ourselves. As a surgeon, I find professional fulfillment in helping shape your physical self in a way that more closely reflects the physique you envision. Here at NuBody Concepts, my purpose is to make your expectations a realistic actuality.”
